The Working Late Manifesto

There’s no such thing as retirement age.
How long we work is a personal choice, not a cultural decision.

Everybody’s work deserves respect.
Plain or fancy, paid or volunteer — there’s value inherent in every job.

Stereotypes are fiction.
When we resist assumptions, we approach the truth.

It’s not about generations.
Clichés like “Boomer” and “Millennial” make for provocative headlines,
but they don’t describe real people.

There is no “them.”
We’re all us, moving through the ages and stages of life.

Everyone is welcome.
Your voice matters.

When we say “growing older,” the emphasis is on growing.
What we gain is much more interesting than what we leave behind.

Every age is the right age.
A birth year is a fact, not a judgment.

It’s time to advance the present — and the future.
Together we can lay the groundwork for a better today and a
healthier tomorrow, when individuals may choose to work even longer.

This is a tribe of love, respect and support.
We’re here to help each other thrive.
